cant understand him
or hear him I should say
Okay I will let him know, thank you
can you put her in speaker view
Yes, the speakers’ are pinned onto spotlight.
1) figuring out, asking for and earning my fair salary2) being respected for who I am; not being looked at as just "the cute girl" on the job site
I have the same fears as Michelle
My fear is not finding a job after college
One of my fears is not being able to move up into a leadership position and not taken seriously
being the only women engineer!
addressing guys hitting me on the job site too ( this has happened to me)
I got from a coworker just this last week “ do you bake and cook?”
In an engineering internship and getting those types of comments how to bounce back and hold responsibility of addressing sexist comments
Or being asked personal questions that wouldn't be asked to male colleges. like are you single, why are you single, etc.
Being put into a "women's" role at a company, being kept from opportunities that others might have.
^^ how to deal with the under handed comments
Being afraid that they are promoting you or giving you opportunities not because of your potential but because of ulterior motives
I had a job where HR did not take my concerns towards harrassment from other coworkers seriously. I was let go instead of having my concerns being taking seriously
I am so sorry Susana. I stand with you
the same thing happened to me from HR :(
thank you Michelle. Im so sorry T D that you had to go through that as well. :( I hope we don't have to go through that again.
That's horrible, im so sorry for both of you to have to experience harassment and also not being heard when you spoke out. I hope those companies have updated their policies and are holding their employees accountable.
@Susana. Me too. I hope that going to events like this we can gain skills to navigate and hopefully make systemic changes <3
I was tempted to clap at Daniella getting equal pay. It is commendable of SCE, but it SHOULD be expected of all
hi, sorry, I missed a good chunk of the meeting because my apartment manager is breaking the restraining order again. I had to call the police on her. I am really curious how do we fight for equal pay and how do we eliminate any discrimination. will there be a meeting minutes posted after this?
@summer: this is being recorded so you can review it later
Hello Summer, thank you for joining our workshop. We hope everything is okay. Don’t worry this meeting is being recorded and will be posted here https://www.csulb.edu/college-of-engineering/professional-development-and-internships
I have a question. Should I save it for the end?
Hi Michelle, you could post it in the chat or turn off your mic and ask the speakers when they start the discussion section.
Ok, thanks Wendy! I will ask it during the discussion section
Everyone: I made a Discord Group for CSULB Women in Engineering. I think it could be helpful for us to connect outside this meeting & support each other <3https://discord.gg/uQJhpyJM
Well said about bias. We cannot eliminate all bias, but we can try our best to learn and empathize with others. Think about how their experiences led them to where they are
Thank you I really resonated with that
I just wanted to say--excellent presentations Nicole, Danielle, and Daniella--and insightful discussion, everyone. This is important work!
Thank you ladies for taking your time to share your experiences and advice.
Thank you all for sharing your experiences!!
